Overview
Early Intervention evaluations are multidisciplinary assessments designed to determine whether a child has a developmental delay and what services are clinically appropriate.
Evaluation Process
Evaluators gather a full parent history, conduct standardized developmental testing, observe the child’s play and interaction, review medical factors, and complete mandatory vision and hearing screenings to rule out underlying causes.
Team Collaboration
Two disciplines collaborate to integrate all findings into one unified report that includes test scores, functional descriptions, calculated delays, and clear clinical recommendations for services such as speech, OT, PT, or special instruction.
Use of Results in the IFSP
The results are then used in the IFSP meeting to set goals and plan a service schedule tailored to the child’s developmental needs.
